BOOK NOTES

See what people are saying about Ron LeLeux's books:

Louisiana Stories - Growing Up in the Bayou State

Louisiana Stories is a fine collection of vignettes that preserves the history of Louisiana that is past.  The work is reminiscent of a kind of mid-to-late nineteenth-century book called Biographical Souvenir that preserved the same kind of material more than a hundred years ago.

Dr. Joe Cash, President  - The Louisiana Preservation Alliance

West Elizabeth Street - Portraits & Letters

Most of Ron's poems are set solidly in Cajun soil, but some reflect Ron's years of attending college and working in Monroe.  All have that solid feel of reality, of specific place, that makes us remember our own childhoods, our own memories of the people and events that helped us to grow up, wherever that happened or is still happening.

Along the Way

One of Ron LeLeux's strengths is his ability to translate place into concrete images of roots, belonging, and quirkiness.  Anyone who has lived in a small town or has wondered what it's like to live in one, will respond to these poems.  Here are love, loss, longing, and a cast of characters who will storm your heart.

Ron LeLeux seems to know my Texan friend Carl; he feels Hattie's fear of her husband's moods; he reminds us of the lonely house in the neighborhood; he puts us in New Orleans or even in the act of prayer.  Ron reaches deeply into our memories and pulls out people, places, and events --  sometimes joyful and sometimes painful, but always real.
